Today I found myself spending 10hrs travelling by train for a 3 hour meeting - which naturally put me in a great mood. This did give me ample to time to ponder why I haven't got a laptop but I'm sure my company knows what it's doing. If they want to pay me for reading the paper 5 times rather than say writing up minutes or coding who am I to complain.
Anyway back to trains, bit of a split opinion on trains - the new trains are so much better than I expect, air con, information displays, power outlets for your laptop (grrr), radio stations, much improved shop/buffet but the punctuality still leaves a lot to be desired. Return journey, started 25 minutes later due to waiting for connecting trains, then 2 of the 5 engines broke so the train couldn't get to top speed, so at one time the delay grew to 30+ minutes, and when they did manage to get back some time some louts cause a scene and we had to wait for the transport police to sort them out, could be worse after my stop they were having to replace the train !
